Sharing is caring!

I’ve been blogging for three years, and I feel the most confident in my work now than ever before!

I can tell because I’m often asked about what I do and how I do it, especially since this has become a full time gig for me (I paused for a scary, yet excited sigh when I just typed that!)

I love to answer questions about what I do because it allows me the opportunity to hear myself answer out loud, and hear myself give credence and relevance to what I do and why it matters.

I’ve always believed that sharing with others is one of the best practices in becoming better at what we do. The student evolving into the teacher.

Where do I get my inspiration?

Lately, the question I am asked most often is where do I get the inspiration for new articles and pictures that I share.

I could easily answer, “from my mind,” which is always spinning and churning out what I think is the next best idea ever!

But that answer still begs the question of where are these ideas coming from that “spin around” in my head.

After giving it some thought, the simple answer is that my constant stream of ideas and inspiration come from going places.

Reading: food for the mind

Going places begins in the mind.

Training your ideas and thoughts into a funnel of good vibes and creative ideas that open the door to positive people, places and energy.

A great place to start funneling this type of energy is in a book! With respect to my creative space as a blogger, the old adage is true. “The more you read, the better writer you become.”

I find self-help books and personal stories to be the most inspiring. Here are a few good books to get you started:

the Bible  |  Becoming by Michelle Obama  |  Shoe Dog by Phil Knight  |  I Am Charlie Wilson by Charlie Wilson  |   Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki  |  The 4-Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferriss (This book is next on my list to read. I’ve heard remarkable things about it!)  |  Next Level Thinking by Joel Osteen

Exercising: food for the body

A game changing exercise for me was yoga. I use the principles and disciplines of this practice in my daily life.

Breathing techniques, mindful meditation, stretching and flow (Chaturanga). 😉

Find yourself a routine that exercises you physically and mentally because we all need a positive outlet to release the bad energy and refuel the good.

Yoga inspires me because it challenges and stretches my physical abilities, which empower my mental abilities to keep doing and creating.

Traveling: food for the soul

I’d say that the most rewarding after practicing good mind and body is traveling.

The more places I’ve visited, the more people I’ve met. The more cultures I’ve experienced. The more homes I’ve entered and the more food that I’ve tasted.

All have re-awakened my senses and made me a better person, Christian, believer, wife, mother, family member, writer, creator, and entrepreneur because of my exposure to so many new and unfamiliar places.

EVERY TIME I travel, I return home with more ideas and inspiration than I had before.

Never fails. I’m always yearning for the next time The Mister and I will hop on a plane and go somewhere. Wanderlust much?!

The Mister and I both recognize that ravel is the future reward to our present selves, for our past selves INTENTIONALLY feeding our mind, body and souls.

Feed the mind, body, soul, repeat— and let the soul cycle begin!

How I manage my social media intake

As a blogger and influencer, I find myself on social media more than often.

My discipline for what feeds my soul in such a populated place is to only follow accounts that offer inspiration to my mind, body and soul.

Whether it’s a good laugh, a good recipe, a great travel picture, or an outfit styled so fierce that it makes me gasp!

Again, I INTENTIONALLY choose and prioritize those that inspire, while I also INTENTIONALLY set boundaries and leave out those that don’t.

Some of the IG accounts that I am enjoying right now and LOVE to see on my feed (in no particular order ;-):

I saw this recent post by @OwnByFemme and couldn’t wait to share it with you because she managed to capture the true essence of travel in one Instagram post! You’ll want to get to her page to read her full post HERE. I’ve summarized the parts that I think are the most impactful to what I know to be so true:

“I have been traveling the world my whole lifetime but with the frequency that I do now, for the past few years, and I can tell you the most beautiful place I’ve ever experienced… Is the mind of someone who truly loves and accepts them selves and lives in their purpose.
So peaceful and freeing there,
So warm and full of light there

Do the work.
On yourself.

For you.
And ultimately for anyone who will have the luxury of experiencing you.
Find your freedom.
Physically.
Emotionally.
Intellectually.
You are the prize, the gift, that beautiful, warm, light filled, all inclusive get away”

My Style with Whimsy Tip:

My dress is simple in design. I added the fancy bling mules and an edgy moto jacket to whimsy-up the look…and keep it from being boring beige with navy stripes 😉

  3. You put a lot of heart into your writings! Your enthusiasm and encouragement just oozes throughout your article, where you almost have me believing that I could tackle writing a blog of my own! I am disabled. I couldn’t have the dedication that you do. It saddens me that I definitely can’t travel like I used too. I did pin this for later. I love the work of Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer, Creflo Dollar, and more who preaches about God’s Word!
