The Mister and I were invited to a hosted Valentine’s dinner at Bonefish Grill in Virginia Beach, and I’m so excited to share with you our amazing experience!
I’ll break down for you each dish and hand-crafted cocktail, all served by the most spectacular staff.
I highly recommend that you make your Valentine’s, Galentine’s, or any other times reservations at Bonefish Grill nearest you.
For a limited time they are serving Filet & Lobster Thermidor as a Valentine’s menu special.
Bonefish Grill Menu
The Mister and I are seafood lovers for sure, and Bonefish Grill caters to our ocean palettes!
If you’re not big on surf, they have an array of other appetizers, soups, salads and main courses including guacamole (for all of us avo lovers), tacos and bowls.
On the turf side, they offer beautiful filet mignons, ribeye and sirloin steaks and a hearty list of soups, chowders, signature sides and greens.
Our Full Course Dinner Experience
We arrived during Happy Hour which is 4-6:30pm daily.
The Mister savored a Blueberry Lemon Drop Martini, while I enjoyed a Tropical Tiki Martini.
I don’t have a signature go-to drink, but this could be it!
I like my cocktails really sweet and fruity, and the Tropical Tiki was both.
Our server, Heather was spot on in recommending this drink for me.
The Mister’s martini was really good, too. His was sweet and sour (hence the name Lemon Drop) and the rim of his glass was beautifully coated in sugar!
The appetizer was my absolute favorite!
If you enjoy seafood and especially shell fish, you have to order the Prince Edward Island Mussels Josephine.
Donté was our server extraordinaire! He presented our food with beautiful descriptions of the flavors in each dish (you know I live for whimsical details).
Donté said the secret ingredient in the mussels is the anisette liqueur in the sauce. He suggested dipping our bread in it. Best serving suggestion ever!
For our main course, The Mister ordered the Dynamite-Style Shrimp and I had the Spicy Tuna Bowl.
I’m a gourmet foodie with a passion for sushi-style tuna or tuna tartare.
Bonefish’s Spicy Tuna Bowl exceeded my expectations!
Although described as a bowl, it’s actually a plated medley of sesame-seared rare tuna, avocado, sweet chile sauce, jasmine rice and wait for it— mango salsa!
Donté suggested layering a bite in this order for maximum flavor explosion: tuna, avo, chile sauce, rice and mango. BOOM! Delicious!
While I was maximizing flavors, The Mister was across the table swooning over his Dynamite Shrimp. He was humming a tune and eating with his eyes closed! A tell-tell sign of amazingly good food!
After dinner we were all smiles with bellies full.
Our server, Heather insisted that we try the Chocolate Lava Cake, which was one of the specials of the day.
Heather hadn’t given us any reason to doubt her so far— so we ordered Chocolate Lava Cake!
YES it was good, and YES we ate it all!
There was warm molten chocolate in the center of the cake, surround by fresh berries and topped with a heap of whipped cream.
The whipped cream wasn’t even the icing on the cake.
The icing on top was Paul Simon, the restaurant’s manager, who sent out champagne with raspberries for The Mister and I to complete our beautiful Bonefish Grill experience!
With service like this, where else do you need to go for Valentines Day?!
